Kelly Latz Kelly Latz, GASF President, is a Partner with Fritz, Byrne, Head, and Gilstrap Law firm in Austin and has more than 35 years of experience representing clients in business and real estate transactions. He has a B.B.A, summa cum laude from St. Edward’s University (Baseball Academic All American, 1980) and a J.D. from The University of Texas Law School.

Kelly chaired the Greater Austin Sports Foundation Board of Directors in the 1990’s. He serves on the Board of Directors of YMCA of Austin and Oak Hill Youth Sports Association and is the President of the Wimberley Youth Sports Association.

Chris Knepp Chris Knepp, GASF Vice President, grew up in Baltimore, went south for college, north for law school, and west for the rest of his life. He played baseball for the Tar Heels of North Carolina and served on the Board of Directors for both the U.S. Olympic Committee and the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee. In his legal career, he represented employers in labor relations matters and in employment litigation, and participated in the representation of major league baseball teams in their salary arbitrations with their players. Chris left his law practice, went to Seminary, and is now an ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church. He recently retired from teaching Bible for 13 years at Regents School of Austin. He has worked in prison ministry for over 25 years.

Chris chaired the Greater Austin Sports Foundation in the 1980’s and has been a big supporter of its various programs, including the Hall of Honor and the Speaker’s Series. He and his wife Charlotte have two daughters and enjoy global traveling.

Cindy Haas Cindy Haas, GASF Treasurer, is a CPA with 16 years of accounting experience including public accounting, corporate accounting, and consulting before moving into talent where she builds relationships and matches candidates and employers. Most recently Cindy started a business focusing on business needs: bookkeeping, controller services, consulting and recruiting.

Cindy has been involved in non-profits for many years and has volunteered and served as a board member with Hound Rescue for over ten years.  She is a beagle-lover and enjoys spending time with her own beagle, Rocco. Cindy graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. and M.P.A. She’s an avid Longhorn fan who attends football games. She also serves on the Westlake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Bob Russ Bob Russ, Secretary, considers himself a “native” Austinite, having lived in the city since the early 70’s. He was born and raised in Germany but fell in love with the hill country when his family moved here upon his father’s retirement from the Department of Defense.

Bob graduated from the University of Texas with a BBA in Accounting, and worked in various capacities for the State Comptroller’s office for over 33 years, surviving four of its office holders, beginning with the Honorable Bob Bullock.

Over the last 40 years, Bob has been active in city and church league sports, served on the board of Capitol Credit Union, volunteered for various local charitable non-profits, and co-chaired a committee for the Dell Match Play Golf Tournament since its inception.

Now in full-time retirement, Bob enjoys spending time at UT football, basketball, and baseball games, giving back to his community, serving his church, staying fit, water-skiing, bowling, and traveling.

Chip Graves Chip Graves grew up in Austin and is currently involved in Real Estate and Construction Consulting. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a BBA in Marketing and he also attended the University of Texas. For the past 30 years, Chip has been involved with youth sports in Greater Austin through coaching and sponsorships. He was on the coaching staff at Regents School of Austin as a volunteer for four of their five state championships in football as the offensive coordinator and later on as an assistant to the head coach. He also coached basketball at Regents.

Chip previously served on the Greater Austin Sports Foundation board of directors, as well as on several other civic and private boards throughout his career in Austin. He is also a lifetime member of the Texas High School Coaches Association.

Shelly Kanter Shelly Kanter was born and raised in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Radio-TV-Film. Her career started with writing and producing training videos and gradually phased into public relations and media projects, all while managing her freelance sports writing and photography business.

Shelly was involved with the Sports and Leisure Committee at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce before it became the Greater Austin Sports Foundation. She was a tireless volunteer and photographed many sporting events and sports celebrities the GASF recruited to Austin, including the Dallas Cowboys. She has recently given many hours to the revival of the GASF, and is the proud daughter of one of GASF’s Hall of Honor recipients, Marvin Kanter.

Shelly also serves as a Board member for the Austin Sports Commission.

Todd Morgan is a native of Abilene, Texas and left to attend the University of Texas in 1985. There he received two degrees – a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Todd began his professional career working at the Texas Railroad Commission and the State Comptroller’s office before becoming the director of state and local government affairs for Temple-Inland, one of the nation’s largest private landowners and a Fortune 300 company. Todd founded Morgan Capitol Consulting 13 years ago to continue representing clients at state capitols in Texas, Louisiana and Georgia. Outside of his family, Todd’s greatest joy has been his involvement in youth sports in Austin. He began coaching little league baseball while a student at UT and continued for almost 30 years, including 10 years of coaching his sons in various sports.

Todd lives in Austin with his wife Jennifer and sons Hill and Drew. He also serves on the boards of Big Brother’s Big Sisters International and Western Hills little league.


Jeff Power Jeff Power, Official GASF Videographer, is a 4-Time Texas Associated Press Broadcaster Award Winning TV Host, Reporter, and Producer with 25 years of television experience as a sports broadcaster.

Jeff has covered everything from Super Bowls, BCS Title Games, MLB & NCAA World Series, NBA Finals, Final Fours and All Star Games. Jeff is a play-by-play broadcaster but knew all along telling stories was his real passion, so he created his own TV production company in 2010 and started producing documentaries.
